The Artist
Gilda Morina Syverson is a multifaceted artist whose creative journey covers visual art, poetry, memoir, and education. Holding an MFA in Fine Arts from Southern Illinois University, a B.S. in Art Education from Buffalo State University, and an A.A.S. in Education from Maria Regina Junior College, Gilda has fostered a lifelong passion for the arts.
Her own artwork, which includes colored pencil drawings, prints, paintings, and various mixed media, often evokes angelic themes and motifs inspired by her Italian American heritage. Gilda’s angels and other creations have been showcased and collected regionally, nationally, and internationally, including in the United States, Canada, and Italy.
In addition to her visual art, Gilda is an award-winning author and educator. With three decades of experience teaching Fine Arts and an additional 25 years dedicated to the art of memoir writing—15 of which were spent at Queens University of Charlotte—she continues to offer private memoir classes, workshops, and retreats, both online and in-person. Her expertise has earned her recognition as LinkedIn’s top memoir instructor.
Originally from Syracuse, New York, Gilda now resides outside Charlotte, North Carolina, where she continues to work from her studio. Her creative endeavors explore personal history, healing, and identity—deeply reflecting her rich cultural roots and artistic vision.
