Gilda Morina Syverson

Author, Poet,Artist, and Teacher

Welcome

“If you don’t tell your stories, they will die with you. Worse yet, someone else will attempt to tell your tales.” I have been saying this to my memoir students for almost twenty-five years. That is why I continue to write memoir and poetry and enjoy teaching others who are ready to tell the stories that haunt them. My creative life began in the Fine Arts and flourished when I began to add words to my thoughts and meanderings. Going to the depths of my soul feels natural to me, and I am willing to take others who want to write their stories to the depths of their souls, too, whether it be about family heritage, following one’s own personal journey, expressing your life experiences in words.

Enjoy moving through my website and come back often to see what books, classes, workshops, and events I am offering.

~ Laura Ponticello, award winning author and publisher of Divine Phoenix Books

“The takeaway from Gilda’s unique spiritual journey is that unless we dive into the deepest parts of our soul, we cannot launch ourselves to where that soul wants us to be. Her journey began with warm memories of her Italian grandfather and how his touch had healing powers and ended with her becoming a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner. Full of twists, turns and risks, I found this book to be compelling and thought-provoking.”

~ David Figura, retired newspaper journalist and award-winning author of So What Are The Guys Doing?

“Through her own deep, unwavering heart- and spirit-led Healing Journey, which memoirist, poet, artist, and wellness practitioner Gilda Morina Syverson shares in illuminating detail, we fortunate readers are gently led on our own journeys to discover our gifts and passions and use them to heal ourselves, our loved ones, and our world. What a beautiful, generous present Syverson’s book gives us to unwrap.”

“Artist, writer, mystic, seeker Gilda Morina Syverson takes the reader on an intimate journey through the sacred spaces of the heart. She travels both a metaphysical and grounded path, letting her keen intuition guide her towards finding a Spiritual Director, learning about Healing Touch, and discovering her life’s purpose. Using these tools, she maps the flow of energy that courses through her – from the healing abilities entwined in her mother’s ancestral lineage to the here and now where she deals with wide ranging questions relating to the soul, her health, and her frustrations about the political and pandemic situation. Gilda’s awarenesses awaken both herself and the reader to the potential of deep, expansive healing.”

“This is an encouraging, deeply human, accessible memoir of one woman’s desire and search to find “the still point of the turning world,” as T.S. Eliot expressed. A Healing Journey offers hope and clarity to all of us interested in demystifying the process of keeping the promises we’ve made to ourselves. What a gentle and compassionate guide Gilda Morina Syverson is!”

A Healing Journey becomes an elusive plunge back into time and place within the space of Gilda Morina Syverson’s own personal history and eventually her family’s history. Little does she know that her search leaves us eager to peek back with her at the discovery and values of not only our generational past, but a past that had been left behind in Sicily long before her birth.”

~ Delia De Santis, editor of the Anthology People Places Passages, An Anthology of Canadian Writing, author of Fast Forward and Other Stories

“It is abundantly clear from the very first chiseled sentence of Gilda Morina Syverson’s crucial new memoir, A Healing Journey, that she is a poet, a very fine one, who not only feels, but witnesses everything and has the courage to forge it into inimitable language. With absolute candor and breathtaking cinematic imagery, at once aching and epiphanic she illuminates the emotional core of what it’s like to stand on the earth with the abiding questions of all who have preceded her.”

~ Joseph Bathanti, North Carolina Poet Laureate (2012-14) and author of The 13th Sunday after Pentecost

“Gilda Morina Syverson is a woman of high energy, creative intelligence, and scintillating curiosity. In A Healing Journey she uses these gifts to explore her deep Italian roots and the healing powers of her ancestors. Determined – no compelled – to heal herself, she offers her own hand as she guides us along an ancient footpath toward restoration and inner peace.”

~ Dannye Romine Powell, author of In the Sunroom with Raymond Carver

“In A Healing Journey, we follow Gilda Morina Syverson as she guides us through her own intimate journey of trials and errors, successes, and awakenings – teaching us along the way to open our eyes to our own paths in front of us. Gilda’s spiritual connection, stimulating curiosity, and culture-rich wisdom inspire us to embrace each day as it comes and accept our unifying truths in our own experiences of life. From Healing Touch to sacred manifestations, we see that healing on a soul- deep level is within reach for us all.”
