Enter the holiday season with candlelight, flowers and the Ecstatic: think of the root of the word: elation, rapture, trance. Rumi, Hafez, Kabir and the long list of poets whose work has needed to be released from their cages, to quote Robert Bly, into a free verse form that brings hope and redemption to our 21st century souls. Where else can we go for hope, support and redemption as we enter both the darkest days of the year and the holiday season? Local poets take a turn reading and discussing their favorite ecstatic poems with impromptu musical accompaniment by Tanja Bechtler, cellist and Bob Teixerira, guitar.
